To my friends...
Do you ever worry about your future? Do you struggle with
anxiety, loneliness or hopelessness? Or are you dissatisfied with where
your life is, and feel like your efforts are futile or meaningless? Are
you searching for peace in your inner being?
If any of the above is true, I invite you to consider this:
Jesus is a real, loving Person. I'm sure you have heard about His death on the cross. Jesus really died then, and days later rose from the dead and is alive today.
Jesus desires to have a relationship with you. He is ready and waiting to give you peace, joy, fulfillment and life with Him for all eternity.
Where our personal failings and shortcomings have denied us peace with God and ourselves, Jesus has intervened, taking all of it on himself in our place. It's like being an "F" student in class, and having someone walk in, lead you to the head of the class, and tell the instructor, "I'm giving my "A+" to my friend here. Please give his "F" to me, and I will bear the burden of it."
All of this is available simply for the asking. God loves you very much, and He longs to know you and give you joy and peace.
I'm not suggesting that you become "religious". Far from it! Religion is just people's way of trying to get God's favor through their own actions. Jesus wants to do all the work, all we have to do is accept it for ourselves.
If you would like a relationship with Jesus, just say these words and mean them. This is no magical formula; I only give you these words to help you with what you intend to say from your heart:
"Lord Jesus, I need you. I know I have fallen short in my life. I ask You to be my Lord, my Savior and my God. Make me clean as only You can. Come into my life, and let me be with You forever. Holy Spirit, come now and fill me, that I may become more like Jesus. Father God, thank you for making me your child, and that I can call you my Father forever."
If you prayed this prayer and meant it, then you have just entered into the most wonderful relationship you will ever know. That's great! If so, I recommend you do three things: 1) Get a modern translation of the New Testament and begin to read it. The book "Gospel of John" (4th book in the New Testament) is a good place to start. 2) Find a group of people who also have a relationship with Jesus and begin to spend time with them. They can often be found in churches, but not always. You can usually tell such a group by the way they love each other. Beware of cults; these groups typically deny that Jesus is God and/or claim He was not physically raised from the dead. Cults frequently have their own version of the Bible. 3) Spend time with Jesus alone. Prayer is a word that simply means talking with God. Tell Him honestly what is inside you. Make sure you are quiet some of the time so you can hear Him talk too.
Maybe you've read this and you're skeptical. If so, then I challenge you: Say something like this and mean it in your heart: "Jesus, I don't know if you are real, but if you are, I ask you to reveal yourself to me, and show me who you are and that you love me."
I have no doubt that Jesus will faithfully answer you.
